JEAN-MICHEL COUSTEAU: VOYAGE TO KURE
In 2003, a group from Ocean Futures Society, led by Jean-Michel Cousteau, along with members of NOAA and USFWS made a journey up the archipelago all the way to Kure Atoll, filming along the way for a PBS documentary. This film inspired then President George W. Bush to declare the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands the (then) largest marine protected area in the world.
